The European Year of Youth is a great opportunity to celebrate youth and organise diverse events and activities for and with young people!

European Year of Youth activities could be anything from a photo competition to a workshop, campaign, info stand in a college or youth club, or a mindfulness walk combined with information on volunteering or studying abroad. You might organise a debate, share a Tik Tok, set up a European quiz night, or hold an event to meet inspiring young people or an MEP. There are endless possibilities!

There are also plenty of topics to choose from – be it the future of Europe and what it means to be a young European today, or opportunities to work, study or volunteer in Europe. You might like to explore mental health, sustainable travel, EU programmes for young people, inclusion, or active participation in your local community or school.

To give you some inspiration, here are some examples of successful activities run during previous European campaigns such as European Youth Week or Eurodesk Time to Move:

Time to Move 2021

European Youth Week 2021

Eurodesk Awards Catalogue 2021 has plenty of amazing projects from different European countries including Ireland – such as a Eurodesk Lunapark, Magic Boxes, Adventure and Treasure Games, Clothing Upcycling Workshop and Europe in your Living Room.

You can also check the map of the European Year of Youth 2022 activities organised across Europe and find something that might be inspiring!

Finally, why not add a European Year of Youth ‘flavour’ to your already planned events – perhaps by informing young people about the year and its objectives, or presenting inspirational videos about EU opportunities? You could start with this inspirational story of volunteering with the European Solidarity Corps. You could also use some of the EU resources for children and young people at school or in a youth club!
